La Cage

La Cage is a fashion design and cinema collective founded by Victoria Baia and Victor Koehler, graduates of the Duperré School of Applied Arts and finalists of the 39° Festival de Hyères in 2024. Each of their projects begins with the writing of a script from which they designed a men’s fashion collection that they put back into play in a short film. With their approach, garments are at the service of the narrator, and they like to interpret the clichés of American cinema : businessman, soldier, detective, bounty hunter, cowboy… The photos we collect, the uniforms we find, the lucky charms we keep have built their creative universe. They like to work with elements that have already lived, already have a history; wear and patina, whether authentic or artificial, take a central place in the aesthetics of their collections. Their passion for cinema nourishes their fashion work. They created a men’s wardrobe lulled by the lighthouse keepers’ clothing in “The Lighthouse”, the mafioso suits in “Ghost dog”, the crushing desert sun of “There Will Be Blood”, the tale of William Blake and Nobody in “Dead Man”, the time-tested costumes and set-pieces of “The Master”, the mystery man of “Lost Highway”, Travis Bickle’s blood-stained shirt in “Taxi Driver” and the soldier ghosts of “In the Electric Mist”. Their collections are handmade in Paris, from antique fabrics, natural materials and deadstock of the French army.
