Espuma

Espuma is a London-based six-piece weaving a hypnotic tapestry of latin rhythms, folk tales and 60s psychedelia with influences from around the world. Born from the melting pot of England, Bulgaria, and Germany, their sound pulses with the energy of London’s vibrant psychedelic scene. Formed just over a year ago, Espuma has quickly shown immense promise through captivating live performances at key grassroots venues and has already begun to play internationally, in the United States and France.

Musical Picks
From Espuma

Richard Hawley
Coles Corner

It helped me get through a lonely time in my life. When you’re in that state you’re desperate not to be the only one feeling like that and songs like this remind you that you’re not the first one to go through that and you won’t be the last.

Los Destellos
En Orbita

They were a big influence on the feel that I was trying to create with Espuma at the beginning. It’s a mix of cumbia, surf, psychedelia and traditional South American indigenous sounds.

Rupa
Disco Jazz

This is one of my favorite albums because of its smooth fusion of disco, Indian music and jazz. The groove is steady and infectious, showing how effective a simple rhythm can be. I love how the percussion holds everything together while the synths add an atmospheric layer that gives the album a unique vibe.

Altin Gün
On

I love how the over-saturated guitars, funky basslines, and  vintage synths create a modern/retro sound. Tracks like Goca Dünya and Caney stand out with their infectious vocals and rich composition showing how seamlessly the band fuses past and present.

Spiritualized
And Nothing Hurt

These songs have an orchestral quality about them in the way they build into crescendos. I saw them play live once in a church in Hackney with a huge band, choral backing singers, everything. The space was perfect for it and they had these psychedelic purple bubbles projected across the walls and ceiling, rising upwards with the music.
