Karma Sheen

Karma Sheen

The International Hindustani Classical Psychedelic rock group stemming from Pakistan have quickly cemented their reputation as one of the most unique bands currently on the circuit. The band is spearheaded by Sameer Khan, and with the help of his companions, they create an eclectic mix of 60’s/70’s psychedelia whilst over and under, runs through Indian classical sounds and Sufi inspired lyrics that complete the psychic fuzz toned sound that is Karma Sheen.

Musical Picks
From Karma Sheen

Woody Green
Woody Green

Woody is a poet, folk extraordinaire, a genuine up-and-comer in the folk world. His voice cuts so deeply, akin to Bob Marley’s natural voice just majestically cutting through the mix, purely because his cellular structure had matured. The songwriting is impeccable and although sometimes abstract, you can really feel the themes in all of his songs such as The Blonde in Every Film.

Nabihah Iqbal
Dreamer

Nabihah is my modern-day hero. When it comes to mind and soul connection and putting you into your art, she absolutely personifies this. This World Couldn’t See Us is indicative of her eclectic taste in music as a DJ where although she’s a type of electro-pop, you can clearly hear 80s chart-topping in there too.

Kikagaku Moyo
Masana Temples

These guys completely changed my perspective on modern psych music. It is simple, it’s not virtuoso music in that regard but their understanding of dynamics. I have always felt that it’s music that was always the music I wanted to listen to.

Pharoah Sanders
Promises

It came out a few years ago. It’s a blend of free/spiritual jazz with contemporary electronics and contemporary classical music. It’s insane. I’ve never heard anything like it before. It’s very meditative, but it has moments in time where it completely explodes in flurries of electronics and jazz flourishes and it’s a very undulating album.

Rossana
A la Portugaise

I could talk about her band for weeks before I even get to her and if I start on her I’ll talk about it for years. Her voice, her compositions, she writes all the music and she has this Portuguese folk with this cabaret style, with this Brazilian jazz style and it’s unbelievably superb.
