Gone Down Meadowland

Floral Image

Since their emergence in 2019, Norwich’s FLORAL IMAGE have presented and exposed psychedelic rock with ferocity, articulacy, and a heliolatric, near-hedonistic sense of revelry. Amalgamating the pumping acid house grooves of the mid90’s with the spluttering drive of early 70’s psychedelic titans Hawkwind, as well as a wistful dash of brightness from modern Neo-psych acts like King Gizzard and Babe Rainbow, Floral find a luscious assonance in carefully measured chaos.

Musical Picks
From Floral Image

Holy Wave
Interloper

They’re great, really lovely people. We played a show with them in December and I hadn’t listened to them enough and I went to listen to that album and it’s just perfect in every way. I wish I wrote all those songs and I’m jealous that they wrote them.

Volleyball
Wowsos

We got stuck playing a really terrible show with them last year and basically just got to hang out with Volleyball and make good buds with them and they put out this record last year that I think that fundamentally changed our approach and thoughts and made us feel really renewed and revived when we were making stuff.

Air
Moon Safari

Not that it would be a surprise to a French audience but I would love to declare my love for Moon Safari by Air. It’s a CD my dad had and gave to me when I was about 14 and how that record is stylised is completely mind-blowing and it takes you on a fantastic journey through the world they created in that record. I don’t think music can get a much better production value than that.

Pond
Stung!

I think it’s a really good benchmark of where neo-psych is at right now. It’s got some great dynamics in it, the guitar tones are just a joy and a bit of a reference for us I suppose.

Daisy Rickman
Howl

She’s a UK artist that you should desperately get into. Cornwall-based folk musician, outstanding, homemade records, does every instrument herself and is just a master talent, both music and art.
